Lastly, the Camporee staff offers to promote this event at your
meetings. It is by no means mandatory to have us visit,
but we would like to come and promote this fun scouting event.

Also, there are other tours available if you have time but you would
have to pay for them separately. Additional information can be found on
the Queen Mary website (www.queenmary.com). We will be sleeping as a
group in the spacious “Capstan Room” with its own private deck located
at the stern of the ship. You will need to bring a sleeping bag, air
mattress, etc.
To guaranty yourself a spot, please e-mail me the names of each
person in your family that will be attending and mail or drop off a
check, made payable to “Pack 227″. For those of you with scouts that
attend St. Bonaventure, you can drop off your check (in an envelope marked
“Pack
227″) to the school office. This event will probably sell out so make
your reservation early.

All scouts are asked to bake a cake, preferably with their parent and
bring it to the pack meeting to auction them off.

This is an opportunity for you & your scout to design, bake and
decorate a cake together.

The Pack meeting will start at 6:30pm and Ramon Perez will be there at
5:30pm if families want to drop off their cakes early. The scouts will
place their cakes on their respective den tables.

Each den will pick the best cake from their table to be placed on the
live auction table and these cakes will be auctioned off during the last
half of the evening. All the other cakes will be part of the silent
auction and there will be bid sheets for this on each den table. There
will also be slips of paper for the scouts to identify their cakes.

Winners will pay for their cakes that night by cash or check and will
take their cakes home that evening.

We would like ALL cakes to sell so please keep an eye on bid sheets
and consider bidding, if a cake looks like it might not sell.

This is a fundraiser for the pack so please “Do Your Best”.

Feel free to invite friends and family to see & bid on the cakes.

Pinewood Derby Rules  Pack 227

ALL CARS MUST PASS INSPECTION TO QUALIFY FOR THE RACE

1. The car weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces. The official race scale
shall be considered final.
2. The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches
3. The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 ¾ inches
4. The car must have 1 ¾ inches clearance between the wheels
5. The car must have 3/8 inch clearance underneath the body
6. The wood provided in the kit must be used. The block may be shaped
any way that is desired.
7. The wheels supplied with the kit must be used. The wheels may not
be cut, drilled, beveled or rounded. You may remove the seam from the
wheels.
8. The axis supplied in the kit must be used. They may be polished or
lubricated.
9. Wheels bearings, washers or bushings are prohibited
10. The car may not ride on any type of springs
11. The car must be freewheeling with no starting devices
12. No loose material of any kind may be used. Weights may be added,
but must be securely fixed
13. Repairs to the cars must be done prior to final inspection. If
repair is necessary after final inspection, car must be inspected again
before racing

Each car must pass inspection by the official committee before it will be
allowed to compete. The inspection committee has the responsibility to
disqualify those cars that do not meet these specifications.

SO CUB SCOUTS, START YOUR ENGINES …WE’LL SEE YOU AT THE RACE

Please remember to meet with a priest and have them sign off on the
booklet. Complete the Application form (do not worry about the
Religious Emblems Coordinator signature nor the Cubmaster signature –
we will take care of that).

If your scout has not finished their book & you do not think he will
before
the deadline, that is fine — he can continue to work on it and take
part in the January 2013 ceremony.

Just a reminder — the Light of Christ Book is for 1st & 2nd graders (Tigers & Wolves).
Must be completed by the end of 2nd grade, if the scout wants to receive the
award and participate in the ceremony.

The Parvuli Dei Book is for 3rd, 4th & 5th graders (Bears & Webelos).
Must be completed by the time they bridge to Boys Scouts (Feb. of
5th grade) if the scout wants to receive the award and participate in
the ceremony.
